The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a saltiness enhancing agent for enhancing saltiness originating from sodium chloride; a salty seasoning that can be used as a substitute for table salt; food or drink having enhanced saltiness; a method for producing food or drink; and a method for reducing salt in food or drink. The present invention is characterized by enhancing saltiness of sodium chloride by causing sodium bicarbonate and ammonium chloride, or sodium carbonate and ammonium chloride to exist together with sodium chloride. The ratio of the total weight of ammonium chloride and sodium bicarbonate or sodium carbonate with respect to the weight sodium chloride is preferably 0.1-75.0.
