To provide a novel polyamino acid and/or a salt thereof, and develop an antibacterial agent having better bactericidal action which contains novel polyamino acid thereof and/or a salt thereof.SOLUTION: It is found that Streptoalloteichus hindustanus being a type of Actinomycetes synthesizes e-poly-L- beta -lysine being a novel amino acid homopolymer, and e-poly-L- beta -lysine is a cationic polymer and has excellent bactericidal ability against bacteria, yeast and mold. On the basis of the findings, novel polyamino acid and/or a salt thereof is provided, and an antibacterial agent which has better antibacterial action and contains novel polyamino acid thereof and/or a salt thereof is developed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
