Aspects considered include: guidelines provided by Vegan Society, Food Standards Agency (FSA) and specific retailer codes for selection of vegan ingredients; disparities between consumers verses the food manufacturers in interpretation of the vegan claims; challenges faced by the food manufactures in managing the "vegan" and "may contain" labelling claims; risk assessment procedure conducted across the manufacturing process from supply of raw materials to dispatch for claiming the product as vegan; and effective cleaning procedure for processing lines used for vegan and non-vegan foods.
