A mixed-gas beverage dispensing system is described for driving beverages from a container to a tap with a predetermined ratio of CO2 and N2. Monitors are used to detect excessive production of N2 by an N2 generator and/or to measure pressure in an N2 reservoir. A volumetric gas flow meter may be interposed in ≥1 mixed gas distribution line. Upon detection of N2 consumption in excess of a predetermined threshold, a monitor may trigger an audible, visual or electronic alarm, shut down the system or switch to ≥1 back-up gas tanks containing CO2 and/or N2 to allow beverage dispensing to continue.
