A bottled beverage which contains a green tea extract is described. The beverage contains the following ingredients: a nonpolymerized catechin and its analogues (0.01-1.0 wt.%); oxalic acid or one of its salt; and caffeine. The ratio of the contents of oxalic acid or its salts to that of nonpolymerized catechin and its analogues, is from 0.00005 to 0.1 by wt., and the ratio of the content of nonpolymerized catechin and its analogues to that of caffeine, is from 5 to 10 000 by wt. The beverage has a high catechin concn., good sensory properties (such as reduced astringency and bitterness), a long shelf life and retains its colour during transportation at high temp.
