Antibacterial equipment which can be used for food preservation consists of an antibacterial unit containing a volatile antibacterial component in a breathable wrapping. The unit is covered with an impermeable packaging with vent holes, the outer surface of which is covered with a peelable, impermeable film. When this film is peeled off, vapour from the antibacterial component passes through the vent holes and flows out to the external atmosphere, providing an antibacterial effect on food surfaces. A refrigeration device is also provided.
